b_place - the new place to b(e)

A concept of a space-in-space that provides multifunctional flexibility and an extraordinary discovery area in order to present exclusive products, image campaigns and special events.
On behalf of the fashion and lifestyle company E.Breuninger GmbH & Co and as part of a roll-out measure, DIA- Dittel Architekten has developed a design concept for this Pop-up area and yet implemented it successfully in Stuttgart and Nuremberg.

architecture, temporary, space-in-space

This flexible model for changing presentations, staging and inspiration allows an experience-oriented connection between the physical space and the digital world of shopping for the point of sale. Located in the center of the sales area, the b_place represents a special highlight and a communicative meeting point for innovative concepts.

By the use of digital projections and touchscreens, individual customer interactions are made possible. Beyond that, the area is usable in a multifunctional way for events, such as expert talks, pop-up’s, concerts, fashion shows and art exhibitions. The space between ceiling and floor can freely be designed and meet the requested scenarios in every way by means of its flexibility. On the basis of various modular elements, the area can be organized to such an extent, that it is used individually due to its plain design. Through its customizable structuring, it is possible to create a dynamic and alternating floor plan according to the appropriate situation. For this purpose, thirty cube elements are placed at the disposal which form components thanks to the modular plug-in system in order to create different situations.

The recurring design of the b_place build upon mobile product carriers and multifunctional frames. Twelve hanging framed modules can be combined, moved and relocated individually by a ceiling grid. By means of a rail system, maximum flexibility will be provided without restricting space in this area. With panels and a projection surface, poles and boards, the space can be redesigned according to specific situations.

In addition, the variability of the b_place is reflected in its materiality. With a surface, covered with chrome, the cube fits perfectly in its surroundings and creates a special depth due to light reflections in the frame carriers. Whether in a “cool” version or in warm shades of gold, the b_place makes a great visual impact on the sales area and sets the scene for a varied staging.
