Cupcake Boutique – A sense of playfulness and indulgence

DIA – Dittel Architekten were asked to design a cupcake boutique in Stuttgart and translated the love of creating cupcakes into the language of architecture. The concept was meant to reflect a sense of playfulness and indulgence. The boutique with its 130 square metres of floor space opened its doors on 11.11.11 at 11.11 a.m.

The key element of the boutique is immediately visible upon entering the café. A large glass display showcases the café's main product: a broad range of cupcakes. The adjacent sales counter continues the understated white design. A look into the bakery underlines the imagination and love that goes into creating cupcakes.

The seats in the boutique are arranged along the shop front window and are divided with a frame. Cosy niches in the interior offer further seating options. For a short stay, a large bar is available in the centre of the shop.

The shape of the lamps that were installed is reminiscent of the cupcake moulds. This theme is repeated in wall graphics and in small playful details in the kitchens, in the children's area and in the toilets. The sweet enjoyment of life can be taken home in the form of take away boxes, gift coupons and paper bags.

The shop windows, decorated with lights, small glass displays and bordures, attract visitors from the outside. The subtle grey of the facade emphasizes the well-lit interior. The sheet metal trim and blackberry-coloured awnings refer to the colour design of the boutique. The CI colours in the café are used for accentuation. The warm tone of the wood floor conveys cosiness.
