The Hotel Domizil, located directly on the Neckar River in idyllic Tübingen, will receive a new, fresh interior design on an area of over 4000 m2 as part of a holistic building refurbishment by Dittel Assoziierte.
The design comes from the hotel name and the character of the city. The “domicile” (= home) sends a clear message, which results in a trusting, bright basic mood.
In addition to the redesign of the rooms, the focus was on the restructuring of the entrance and restaurant areas as well as an authentic, modern design language. In the course of the restructuring, the intermediate building connecting the two main buildings was replaced by a new building.
The aim was to create a modern and flexible concept that would allow both joint and independent use of the three sub-areas. All in all, a completely new design is being created for the hotel, with 80 rooms, a new lobby, new catering area and a spacious terrace directly on the Neckar.
Restructuring of entrance, lobby- and restaurant area
When you enter the lobby, the spacious counter becomes the focal point of the action. As the most important meeting point, it is not only the reception, but also invites you to linger here for a drink. In addition, the large sliding door allows the foyer to be extended to the outside area so that the terrace and interior can be connected. Clear design vocabulary and plain-coloured textiles create an inviting atmosphere in the lobby, which is friendly and bright during the day and contributes to a quiet, cosy atmosphere in the evening. The fireplace as a central space element separates and connects the individual surfaces in equal measure.
Restaurant radiates warmth and quality
The open restaurant is characterised by a change of material (in banquet seats and chairs) with soft colour transitions and cognac-coloured leather as contrast. This allows you to create a friendly atmosphere during the day, which can be transformed into a cosy atmosphere in the evening.
Breakfast room integrates itself smoothly into the concept
The breakfast room impresses with its bright room concept, which combines functionality and cosiness. A heavy velvet curtain separates the room, which is only used during the day, from the other areas on the ground floor. At the same time, the soft, dark fabric contributes to a homely atmosphere in the restaurant.
Combining functionality with a sense of home
In the hotel room, you will clearly notice that comfort and modernism work together as a whole, and express themselves in detail. Soft textiles and round shapes are featured to accentuate clean lines and hospitable functionality. This functionality is demonstrated by the multifunctional wardrobe, that can also be used as a seating alcove and luggage rack. It has a filigree, geometric style. The indirect lighting creates a feeling of comfort and can be adjusted to the needs of our guests. Elaborate details, such as the bedside lamp in a pendular shape, leather straps in the seating alcove or decorative seams on the back of the bed, round off the design.
Restful retreat in a contemporary comfort setting
The redesign of the fitness and wellness area offers a balanced space for both movement and moments of relaxation. A deep blue tone and warm ochre accents structure the area according to its different uses and enliven the calming atmosphere with a pleasant lighting installation.
Dynamic and free
The wall design with its three-dimensional slatted structure emphasizes the dynamic and open feel of the inviting fitness area, while the wellness zone with sauna radiates warmth and tranquility. In the relaxation niches, featuring water-resistant upholstery and cushions matching the accent colors, guests can take time out to unwind and find calm.
